AUSTRALIAN AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009

Lennard Bremer has put on a magnificent performance so far at the Aussie Age Champs in Sydney with wins in 200 IM, 200m backstroke,100m breast and 200m breast.

On Day 1 Lennie showed his dominance by winning gold  in 14yrs 200m Individual Medley with a time of 2.11.23 beating the second swimmer by almost 3 seconds and breaking the Boys 14yrs W.A Residential record.

The second day brought more of the same with Lennie being the first Australian swimmer to touch the wall in14yrs 200m backstroke in a time of 2:10.17.

After a day of rest it was back to the pool on Day 4, all guns blazing. In a time of 1:07.13 Lennie made it an Aussie Age gold medal hat-trick winning the 14yrs 100m breaststroke, in doing so he also broke the W.A. Residential and W.A. All-time records.

Lennie swam the lead off leg in the W.A 14yrs 4 x 50m freestyle relay in 25.55, contributing to the teams bronze medal win.

The best was saved 'til last. On Day 5, the final day of the competition, Lennie won his fourth gold medal and broke the Boys 14yrs 200m Breaststroke Australian Record by over 1 second in a time of 2.21.14, other records broken in this swim were W.A. Residential, All time and All comers records.

 Ryan Steenkamp swam his way into the 16yrs 50m freestyle final finishing 10th with a pb of 24.68.

Ryan swam a 53.92 in 16yrs 100m freestyle to place 17th, also a personal best time of 1:02.14 in 100m backstroke, rounding off with another pb of 2:17.16 in 16yrs 200 IM. Ryan has 200m backstroke on the final day of competition.

Siobhan Wilkins placed 23rd in 15yrs 200m backstroke (2:27.66), 19th in 15yrs 100m freestyle with a personal best time of 59.37, 22nd in 15yrs 50m freestyle (27.75), completed 15yrs 100m backstroke in a time of 1:09.42,

and finished with15yrs 200m freestyle (2:10.31).

 Jemma Saxton (12) swam a time of 1:09.81 in 13yrs 100m butterfly and  5.33.13 in 13yrs 400m IM.

AUSTRALIAN AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009

Aqua Attack Committee and Members Congratulate Lennard Bremer, Jemma Saxton, Ryan Steenkamp and Siobhan Wilkins and wish them success with their National endeavours. National Age Championships, which is being held in Sydney, runs from Monday April 13th to Saturday April 18th. Other members of Aqua Attack to achieve National Qualifying Times are Taylor Colton, Michael D'Agostino, Peter D'Agostino and Luke Pardini, due to other commitments they are unable to attend this year.

Jemma Saxton: 100 fly, 400 Individual Medley

PACIFIC SCHOOL GAMES

Aqua Attack is well represented at this years PSG.  Seven Aqua Attack swimmers qualified as part of the team to represent Western Australia in Canberra for the 6 day meet commencing December 1st.

Well done to the squad consisting of Jemma Saxton, Michael D'Agostino, Lennard Bremer, Peter D'Agostino, Luke Pardini, Ryan Steenkamp and Taylor Colton.

W.A. SWIMMER OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Congratulations to Jemma Saxton for being awarded W.A. Junior Swimmer of the Year. Jemma's achievements included winning 12 gold medals, 4 silver and 1 bronze throughout the Winter and Summer State Championships and winning Vorgee Swimmer of the Meet twice during the 07/08 season. Congratulations to Lennard Bremer for being awarded The “Frank Osman Memorial Shield” which is awarded annually to a 13 year-old swimmer competing in 13 years events for performances over the duration of the Summer State Age .

AUSTRALIAN AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Aqua Attack Swimming Club posted its best results in 16 years at the Australian Age Championships held in Brisbane; ranking 21st out of 196 clubs throughout Australia.

Aqua Attack National Squad members Lennard Bremer, Taylor Colton, Michael D’Agostino, Peter D’Agostino, Lucas Kellaway, Luke Pardini, Jake Smith-Wright, Ryan Steenkamp and Siobhan Wilkins, performed well with many achieving Personal Best times.

Breaststroke sensation Lennard posted a time of 1:11.13 to claim the silver medal and break the W.A Residential State record in 13 & under 100m breaststroke on the first night of competition, he backed up superbly the following evening to swim an impressive time of 2:30.23 to win gold and claim W.A Residential and W.A. All-time State records in 13 & under 200m breaststroke, he finished 4th in 13 years 200m Individual Medley (2.19.76).

Aqua Attack new comer Jake swam impressively in the one lap dash, 50m freestyle, with a time of 24.78 to win the bronze medal and claim W.A Residential, W.A All-time, W.A Country Residential and W.A Country All-time State records, he finished 6th in 14 years 100m free (54.46).

Peter swam an awesome lead-off leg time of 24.65 in the 14 years 4 x 50m W.A State Freestyle Relay to break the 14 years 50m freestyle W.A Residential and W.A All-time State records. Peter finished 4th place in 14 years 50m free (25.01), 100m free (54.35) and 100m butterfly (59.63). Michael swam an impressive time of 2:21.01 to finish 6th in 13 years 200m Individual Medley.

The Aqua Attack 14 & under 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay and 4 x 50m Medley Relay teams consisting of Michael, Lennard, Peter and Jake enjoyed great success winning gold medals in both events.  The Freestyle Relay team narrowly missed the Australian Age Record for this event by .09.

Peter and Jake represented Western Australia in the 14 years 4 x 50m State Freestyle and State Medley Relay teams which won silver and bronze respectively.

 Well done to Lennard, Michael, Peter and Jake for achieving times to qualify for TAG funding.
